how i became a writer

i have always written stories. i don't remember exactly when I thought to myself, i want to be a writer, but it must have been when i was nine/ten/ish. 

my first stories were all blatantly copied from movies i had just watched, or books i had read. or just long, dragging stories about a girl with a big family who lived on a farm. with horses. (idk why...i don't live on a farm or own horses xD)

the first story i actually finished (okay, it was a short story--barely 20 pages) was called "Tears of An Ocean" and was horribly depressing. that was when i was going thru a titantic obsession (has anyone else been obsessed with a particular historical period?). basically, everyone died. yup. xD

the first story that was actual-book-length was called "The Island Story" and was loosely *cough cough* based on my crazy fun family reunions on this island in the bay. also based on "the 39 clues" series. i wrote several sequels to it. 

and i have a file box full of stories i started and abandoned after one page. they're all really bad. trust me, xD.

i became serious about writing about a year ago. that was when i discovered the blogging world. i saw teen girls, just like me, who had already completed stories that were novel-length, and more. and i knew that more than ever, i wanted to be like them. 

i wanted a blog to describe my writerly adventures. i wanted to finish a story of my own. i wanted to see my book on my shelf, beside my favorite authors. 

and i determined to finish a story. i went through all my story ideas...all my plot bunnies that one day, hopefully i'll complete. i chose a story that was near and dear to my heart: a story that is now one of my two current WIPs, unforgettable. it's based on the crazy adventures of me and my friends and our dream that one day, we'll go on a road trip just like my story. 

that story is sitting at 21k. which is pretty darn amazing for me, because i've never gone past the first three chapters of any one of my stories. (except for those mentioned above, which i don't count xD)

now, i'm working on my other WIP, the day we met, in conjunction with the GTW 100-4-100 challenge. it's about friendship and iced coffee and stories and platonic love. 

i'm still a long way away from completing my current WIP (i'm at 43k!!), but i know that i will finish. and it'll be a messy, disgusting first draft, but i'm super excited about editing it (ikr? i'm weird). 

anyway, that's the abbreviated story of how i became a writer. :))

so, when did y'all know you wanted to be a writer?

I'm Allison Riera, and welcome to my blog! :))

Ever since discovering the blogging world in June of 2017, I've wanted to start my own blog. I've met so many wonderful bloggers and the amazing #RebelliousWriting during the past year.

And now, it's finally time to launch The Little Bookworm into the blogosphere!! It's been a crazy couple of months as I've played around with Blogger, templates, settings, etc. while juggling finals, end-of-year projects, and lots of studying for exams.

Disclaimer: I have zero experience with coding, CSS, blogging, etc. I started a website thru Wix two or so months ago (for a school project), but that is very user-friendly. Blogger scares me. :D :)

Also, I want to give a huge THANK YOU to the amazingly kind and sweet Ivie Brooks who graciously answered my questions regarding header images, centering, etc. <3 <3

Anyway, The Little Bookworm will be a home to my faith, fangirl moments, writerly adventures, and raving//crying over books. And rants. because i'm very opinionated and love to rant about certain topics *cough* like  spider-man: homecoming + gun violence in movies  #don't ask xD
